Boardwalk farmers market and car show, fruits and vegetables, bedding plants, local seafood, baked goods and local wines, plus classic cars and live music. 6-9 p.m., Fridays, Bay and Chesapeake avenues, North Beach.

Art fair at the farmers market, local artists will display their works at the weekly farmers market. 6-9 p.m. North Beach Boardwalk.

Oscar film fest, a screening of “The Help” (2011). Snacks provided. 2 p.m., Lexington Park Library

Saturday, June 9
Volleyball tournament and fun walk, a benefit for breast cancer research, hosted by the Side-Out Foundation. Dogs welcome. 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m.

“Poker run” benefit, a fundraiser for Calvert Hospice. 10:30 a.m., CJ’s, 12020 Olivet Rd., Lusby.

Open skate night, for all ages. Sponsored by St. Mary’s County Department of Recreation and Parks. 6-9 p.m., Leonard Hall Recreation Center.

Barstow farmers market, vegetables, fruit, herbs, flowers and bedding plants from local farms, plus seafood and baked goods. 7:30 a.m.-noon, Calvert County Fairgrounds.

Sunday, June 10
Fossil search, for all ages, a guided hike to the beach. 2-3:30 p.m., Calvert Cliffs State Park
