St. Mary’s County
Mike’s Food Fund
Seeks volunteers to organize and deliver baskets containing turkeys and canned goods. Donations of toys, Christmas decorations and cash will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Mike’s Bikes, 21310-C Great Mills Rd., Lexington Park. Montgomery County
Hearts and Homes for Youth
Seeks new toys, clothing, books, gift certificates and sports equipment. Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 1320 Fenwick Lane, Suite 800, Silver Spring. Call to arrange pickup of large donations.
Hospice Caring
Volunteers are needed to wrap gifts at Barnes & Noble’s Rio and Bethesda locations. Dates for the Rio location are Dec. 10 to 24. Dates for the Bethesda location are Friday to Dec. 2, Dec. 5 to 8 and Dec. 14 to 24. Shifts for both locations will be for three hours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 to 4 p.m., 4 to 7 p.m. and 7-10 p.m.
National Center for Children and Families
Donations needed include MP3 players, arts and crafts supplies, sports equipment, toys, movie passes, gift cards, and lotion and bath sets. For a complete list, go to the Web site. Unwrapped gifts can be delivered to the Youth Activities Center by 5 p.m. Dec. 16.
Calvert County
Bayside Food Bank
Needs hams and nonperishable breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack food. Donations can be delivered to Bayside Baptist Church, 3009 E. Chesapeake Beach Rd., Chesapeake Beach.
Calvert County United Way Holiday Programs
Cash donations are accepted online and will be accepted in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at 530 Main St., Prince Frederick. Donations can also be mailed to United Way of Calvert County, P.O. Box 560, Prince Frederick, Md. 20678. Volunteers are needed during the holiday season.
Project Echo
Needs paper plates, paper towels, paper cups, nonperishable food, household cleaning supplies, linens and personal hygiene products. Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays at 484 Main St., Prince Frederick. Call before dropping off large items. Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 2764, Prince Frederick, Md. 20678. Volunteers also are needed to answer telephones, serve meals and supervise residents.
Charles County
Christmas Connection Toy Collection Program
Needs new and unwrapped toys and gifts for infants to teens, books, games and videos, stuffed animals, filled stockings, hats, gloves, scarves, underwear and clothing and school supplies. Nonperishable food and cash donations are also needed. Donations will be accepted from 9 to 4:30 weekdays at the Children’s Aid Society. Toys can also be dropped off at Ken Dixon Automotive in Waldorf, Orthopedics and Sports Physical Therapy in LaPlata and White Plains offices; Century 21 New Millennium in La Plata; and the Maryland Independent in Waldorf.
