Hello Abberly Crest! Halloween is a great time for apartment theme parties. Some of the most popular theme parties are masquerades, decade parties, Hawaiian Luaus, and casino night. My favorite theme parties are decade parties. I enjoy dressing from different time periods. Since, I am an eighties baby less focus on the decade that rocked the most.
The 1980’s: I believe eighties fashion was an identity crisis. You could get away with almost anything, but there are still looks that are only synonymous with the eighties.
The Look: Everything was big in the eighties. So, when making your costume you want to rock big hair, for the ladies puffy dresses and skirts, shoulder pads, and colorful clothes.
The Music: Michael Jackson’s Thriller is the best selling album of all time. An eighties party would not be complete without it. Madonna also, released her second album which solidified her as a pop icon.
80’s Pop Culture – The eighties marked the beginning of MTV, Madonna’s acting “Like a Virgin” and Dirty Dancing. These events made the eighties and would make great costumes and decor pieces in your living room. You can put the original MTV logo on your walls, decorate your living room with famous eighty slang and phrases from movies i.e. “Don’t put Baby in the corner”, “Bite me”, “411″, and all the other phrases that were coined in the 80’s.
