Hello Abberly Crest! Whenever you are leaving your apartment for a few days it is important that it is safe and secure. During the holidays there is an increase in electrical fires that could have been prevented. There are simple things you can do to ensure your home is safe and secure while you are away.
- Lock all your doors and windows
- Leave your house key with someone you trust. Ask that person to stop and check your mail daily or get the newspaper.
- If you have an alarm system make sure you set it.
- Ask a neighbor you trust to also keep an eye on your place.
- Program your lights, TV, and radio to come on at various time periods.
- Unplug all electrical appliances. Lower your A/C unit
- Store all of your valuables
- Make sure your renter’s insurance is up to date.
